Why Conflict is Necessary
Many of us avoid conflict. We do not like the feelings that conflict engenders: irritation, sadness, anger, and disgust. Naturally, these feelings are uncomfortable because they are “negative” emotions that cause us to contract and protect ourselves. These emotions are common and occur often in human life because we have a “negativity bias” – we all notice and remember what is wrong or missing more than what is right and available to us. This is part of human nature and we cannot change it.
In this four-part course, we will learn about:
Negativity Bias and Why Conflict is Necessary
Good Conflict and Bad Conflict at Home and at Work
Transforming Your Approach to Conflict through Real Dialogue
Applying Real Dialogue at Home and at Work
