Session Two: Co-Therapist and Co-Facilitator Models of Dialogue Therapy and Real Dialogue

Participants will be able to… 

  1. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the co-therapist set-up for Dialogue Therapy.

  2. Describe the set-up in the room and explain how it relates to the interaction between co-therapists.

  3. Explain and describe why projective identification undermines the 3 Cs in partners and other equal adult relationships.

  4. Identify projective-identification as communicated in the live demonstrations and video.

  5. Describe active and passive aggression. 

  6. Explain why/how active and passive aggression undermine intimacy and trust.

  7. Review the components of the Empathy Interview as they occur in the co-therapy model.

  8. Explain the uses of Unblocking over the course of Dialogue Therapy and Real Dialogue.

  9. Review the issues of time management in the Evaluation and Working on a Conflict sessions in Dialogue Therapy and Real Dialogue.

  10. Illustrate the processes and main points of vetting and working with a co-therapist or co-facilitator.

  11. Demonstrate comprehension of the difference between anger and aggression in problem solving and boundary setting. 

  12. Demonstrate some ability in use of Alter Ego and Coaching/Facilitating.

  13. Demonstrate understanding of how the 3 Cs and the “be-attitudes” are applied in working with projective identification in Real Dialogue.

  14. Discern the clinical occasions when Unblocking should be used.
